stay quite low in edge scrub. 2 - 6 ft up. All the others range 6 - 25 ft up. Most are quiet. But Atlapetes utter a fair number of loud "Seeeeeeeee" Notes. White beards utter usual noises of species.

Whitestarts, White beards, Bright Ruddies, [[underline]] and [[/underline]] [[male symbol]] Albi tend to stick quite close together. Obviously [[underline]] nuclear. [[/underline]] But not really "leaders." Actually, flock isn't going anywhere fast; and probably has no "need" of leader.

Group gradually drifts away to right. Then drifts back, ca 3:50 pm. Apparently same inds. still associated. [[underline]] Including [[male symbol]] Albi!!! [[/underline]] Now one of the Check Atlapetes seems to be in lead. Followed very closely by Whitestart - Whitebeard - Bright Ruddy - Albi "nucleus." Birds a little more noisy now. And moving more rapidly and consistently. Soon disappear from sight.

[[male symbol]] Albi seems to disappear at same time, presumably going along with the flock!!!

Catch up with same flock again only a few yards further on. Get better view of "Whitestripe or reyi type." It definitely is something different. CXXVIII.

This flock [[underline]] certainly [[/underline]] is long sustained and highly integrated!

5:00 pm. See what seems to be same flock in almost exact same area. Apparently all or most same birds attached!

NOTE: This flock seems to have "incorporated" [[underline]] all [[/underline]] the suitable birds in the (not very large - 1/4 - 1/2 mile long) that I have been able to cover this afternoon. At least, I can't
