SEE TODAY'S NOTES ON MIXED DIGLOSSINI

6:25 am. Border of USTF with quite extensive patch of low dense scrub in front of it. Come across mixed flock. Partly, but certainly not wholly, flock seen yesterday. Includes at least 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 19 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 1 [[/insert]] Whitestarts CXXVII, 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 21 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 2 [[/insert]] Whitebeards, 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 23 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 3 [[/insert]] Cheek Atlapetes - all low in scrub, 4 - 12 ft up - 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 25 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 4 [[/insert]] [[underlined]] Th. cyanocephala, [[/underlined]] 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 27 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 5 [[/insert]] of the local species of [[underlined]] Anisognathus [[/underlined]] ("Local Firebelly") - all high in trees, 20 - 25 ft up ---- and 2 [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 29 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 6 [[/insert]] Synallaxis types (same species seen yesterday) ranging widely, 6 - 20 ft up. A single hummingbird [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 30 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 7 [[/insert]] XX j ----> group briefly.

Flock as a whole quite noisy. Whitestarts Sing from time to time. NODWAH. Group probably well integrated. But inds. rather far apart. Difficult to tell who is in lead. Possibly Whitestarts. Cheek Atlapetes certainly in rear. Cheeks f ----> group repeatedly.

COMMENT: I only see the "blue and yellow tanagers" briefly. I think that they may separate themselves from group quite soon. Another indication that "tree top flocks" and "scrub flocks" are unusually "distinct" here???

[[left margin in red]] Albi [[/left margin]]

6:55 am. Approximately 100 yds further on. Same type vegetation. Single [[male symbol]] [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 1 [[/insert]] Albi flies by. Apparently alone.

[[left margin in blue]] 3 [[/left margin]]

A few minutes later, a couple of yellow bellied birds flit by, low in scrub. [[insert,in blue]] 1 [[/insert]] [[two checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 32 [[/insert]] Basileuterus -types??? Then I hear 1 or 2 [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 33 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 2 [[/insert]] Whitestarts CXXVII Singing nearby. And then a single
