here has a surprisingly "high altitude facies" for its actual elevation above sea-level. Why?

Going to work along "highway" above station again this morning.

SEE TODAY'S NOTES ON MIXED DIGLOSSINI

6:45 am. Going to walk along side path. Leaves "highway" at 7400 ft. Apparently goes up into USTF.

Almost immediately come across large flock. (Probably partly the same as flock seen earlier this morning; but it can be counted again now.) Difficult to see in forest; but includes at least the following: 1 large [[checkmark]] [[insert]] 46 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 1 [[/insert]] rufous tree-creeper (30 ft up on tree trunks), 2 small [[2 checkmarks]] [[insert]] 48 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 2 [[/insert]] yellow bellied flycatchers (probably same

[[left margin in blue]] 6 [[/left margin]]

species - ranging 15 - 20 ft up, usually in smaller trees), one yellow-bellied [[checkmark]] [[insert]] 49 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 3 [[/insert]] tanager (Local Yellowbelly? - seen once 30 ft up in tree), one large [[checkmark]] [[insert]] 50 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 4 [[/insert]] thrush or flycatcher-like bird (pale gray underneath - something I have never seen before - ranging 20 - 30 ft up in trees). Also at least [[3 checkmarks]] [[insert,in blue]] 5 [[/insert]] [[insert]] 53 [[/insert]] 3 Cheek Atlapetes. Including "begging" juvenile. Ranging 2 - 20 ft up . At least 1 [[checkmark]] [[insert]] 54 [[/insert]] Whitestart CXXVII. Sings occasionally. NODWAH. At least 1 [[checkmark]] [[insert]] 55 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 7 [[/insert]] Brown Whitestart CXXVII. Sings occasionally. NODWAH. At least 1 "Brown Whitestart". Both Whitestarts range 10 - 30 ft up in great variety of vegetation. Once, at least, the "Brown" repeatedly follows and "supplants" the CXXVII. [[underlined]] This looked almost like a young following a parent [[/underlined]]
