tries than most of the other members of the group. And none of the other members of the group seemed to be paying much attention to them.

Group as a whole doesn't seem to be making any very rapid progress in any particular direction. Birds still around in general neighborhood 9:00 am.

10.35. Below "the flock" area. See 1 [[insert,in blue]] 1 [[[/insert]] [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 184 [[/insert]] Cheek Atlapetes 4 ft up in mixed scrub. Also can hear juv. [[insert,in pencil]] 185 [[/insert]] Cheek low in bamboo nearby.

And see [[insert,in blue]] 2 [[/insert]] [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 186 [[/insert]] Slate-throat (definite) flitting 2 - 10 ft up bushes and small trees. This can be considered a non-integrated flock.

A little further down, come across another family of at least 3 [[3 checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 58 [[/insert]] Cheek Atlapetes in bamboo scrub edge road. Juv "begging" steadily. These birds must be considered alone.

(Incidentally, this species seems to be [[underlined]] remarkably [[/underlined]] fond of bamboo. This may help to explain why Plush-capped Finches are so rare here.)

Then see single [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 59 [[/insert]] Bright Ruddy Flycatcher alone.

10:48am. Still further down road. Small ravine with lush and rather high second growth vegetation. See single [[insert,in blue]] 1 [[/insert]] [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 187 [[/insert]] Whitestart CXXVII.

Silent. Flycatching 1 - 10ft up. Can also hear at least [[insert,in blue]] 2 [[/insert]] [[checkmark]] [[insert,in pencil]] 188 [[/insert]] 1 Cheek Atlapetes nearby, low in scrub. Then 3 [[3 checkmarks]] [[insert,in pencil]] 191 [[/insert]] [[insert,in blue]] 3 [[/insert]] Local Yellowbellies j [[right arrow]] group. Moving 6 - 10 ft up. Quiet. Yellowbellies not feeding. CXXVII eventually stops flycatching. Starts to pick insects off leaves, like a Conirostrum!

Stopping observations 10:55 am.

This afternoon going to climb way up into forest above station, just as we did day before yesterday. Start into USTF 2:15 pm, and climb fairly rapidly up to 7900 ft. Fog is
