8:40. See single WM [[1 red, 1 pencil and 1 blue checkmark]] [[circled in blue]] 28 [[/circled]] Atlapetes alone. Feeding quietly low, very dense, second growth scrub. Definitely alone.

A minute later see single[[male symbol]] [[1 red, 1 pencil and 1 blue checkmark]] [[circled in blue]] 29 [[/circled]] Albi fly from bush to bush, about 20 ft away. Utters one low pitched R (probably) after he becomes aware of my presence. Definitely does not approach WM.

Then a pair [[2 red, 2 pencil & 2 blue checkmarks]] [[circled in blue]] 31 [[/circled]] of Yellow-bellied [[underlined]] Poecilothruapis [[/underlined]] flies by, going from tree to tree. Uttering lots of high thin "Seeet" notes. Very conspicuous, but definitely alone.

8:50. Can't go any further. (I.E. can't reach thickest part of the forest.) Path completely overgrown. Turning back toward the station #1.

Fog coming in 9:15 am.

9:30 - 9:45 See very nice mixed flock. First become aware of a single [[1 pencil, 1 green, 1 blue checkmark]] [[circled in pencil]] 1 [[/circled]] wren in scrub under trees. Probably same species seen in flock Paramo La Negra. Looks like House wren. Dull brown, super-ciliary stripe. But uttering lots of metallic bell-like notes which are quite unfamiliar to me.

Then see [[2 green & 2 blue checkmarks]] [[circled in pencil]] 2 [[/circled]] pair WM Atlapetes in second growth scrub about 30 ft away. [[underlined]] Very [[/underlined]] excited. Uttering lots of hard, loud, "Tit" notes. When first seen, the WMs are about 3 ft off the ground. Then they gradually move away from me. Uphill. At same time they gradually mount higher in vegetation. Up successive tangles. Finally reach 30 ft above ground. At the same time, they are gradually joined

by more and more birds of other species. First the wren, and a [[circled in pencil]] 3 [[/circled]] [[1 green, 1 blue, 1 pencil checkmark]] [[underlined]] Basileuterus, [[/underlined]] probably [[underlined]] luteoviridis. [[/underlined]]. Wren noisy; [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] very quiet.
(Incidentally, the WM's continued their "Tit"s as they mounted. Also began to utter R's as "greetings".) Both the wren and the [[underlined]] luteo [[/underlined]]
