10:12 9390 ft.  Catch glimpses mixed flock in trees of USF. Probably includes at least 4 [[[five green checkmarks]] or 5 birds.  But all I can identify are 2 [[two blue, two pencil checkmarks]] [[circled in pencil]] 1 [[/circled]] White-spectacleds and 1 [[blue checkmark]] Sitti.  20 - 30 ft up.  Group noisy but diffuse.

Group then moves up hill into adjacent AS.  Now see that it includes

[[underlined]] 2 [[/underlined]] [[two pencil, 1 blue checkmarks]] [[circled in pencil]] 2 [[/circled]] Sittis.  Picking insects off leaves.  Also at least 2 [[two blue, two pencil checkmarks]] [[circled in pencil]] 3 [[/circled]] [[underlined]] luteoviridis [[/underlined]]  types, 6 - 10 ft up in scrub near trees.

It [[underlined]] sounds [[/underlined]] as if group also includes some PL's. [[circled in pencil]] 4 [[/circled]] [[1 blue, 1 pencil checkmark]] I can hear Atlapetes-like "Seeet" notes.

Flocks really are [[underlined]] quite [[/underlined]] common in this area now!

Group passes thru area in which maroon-crested cotinga is perched.  And the latter flies [[underlined]] away [[/underlined]] immediately.  Apparently nothing follows.

Group as a whole is quiet now, 10:30 am., and [[underlined]] still very diffuse [[/underlined]]

I am going to start back uphill toward Station #2.

On way back, see several more single Sooty Thrushes alone.

COMMENT: The fauna here certainly seems impoverished - as compared with any of the Cordilleras of Colombia.  Is this characteristic of the Venezuelan Andes as a whole???
