There is a report that five vessels sailed from Nantucket in [[underlined]]April 1746[[/underlined]] for the Baffins Bay whaling but were unable to penetrate the ice and returned. the voyage was not again undertaken.

Feb ^[[?]] 22/60 Thos. W. Perkins has written the facts "A & B" on this & opposite pages. This gentleman has shown me every attention - has given me access to the "Logs" in the office of the [[later?]] firm Parkins & Smith. Called on M. Havens of the firm Williams & Haven. I believe New London has a greater proportion of [[underlined]]"straight-out-&-out-men" [[/underlined]] of noble hearts, than any other place of her size. Mr. Haven expressed much interest in the proposed Expedition to complete the history of the Franklin Expedition. The House of wh. ^ [[Mr. H]] is a member has allowed me unlimited freedom to their Charts & Library. These I have found of great service to me. William Quayle of the Mc Lellan in 1851 and put under the charge of Mr. Sidney O Buddington the mate of the Mc Lellan. In 1858 Perkins Smith replaced the Mc Lelland with two brigs the "Georgiana" and the "Amaret". ("Rescue") The first under Capt. S. O Buddington & the latter under Capt. Jo Buddington. The "Amaret" made 3 voyages when she was purchased by Henry I. Haven - The "Georgiana" (made by and was also purchased by Mr. Haven. The Geo Henry sailed in 1855. Brought home HBM Bark "Resolute."
