Treasurer of said Expedition Asn. - On the 13th Mar by my solicitation, he consented to be Treasurer of the Expedition wh. I represent.
The History will stand thus: Henry Grinnell ^[[Esq of N.Y.]] reced. appointment of Treasurer for the New Franklin Expedition Mar 13/60
Henry Grinnell, Esq. ^[[of N.Y.]] received appointment as Treasurer for Dr Haye's Expedition to North Pole May 22d, 1860.

Friday Eve  Apri 13/60
Called on Miles Greenwood at his residence as per appointment 8 o'clock Eve -
He received me very kindly - I carried with me charts, maps, Books & Letters of Mr Grinnell - & Photograph of Dr Kane the latter of wh. I presented to Mr. G.

Mr Greenwood offered to be one of the 30 of $100 ps. & to be one of the Depositaries of the $3000 - & to act for the advancement of the Expedition.
Indeed, Mr. G. paid every attention to my report of my Eastern tour - seemed deeply interested.  I shall never forget his encouragement & kindly words.  [[underlined]] He is the 1st Cincinnati contribution. [[/underlined]] Gold bless him!

10 o'clock A.M. called on Mr George H. Hill Main Street - Ordered of him 1000 lbs Beef Suet Tallow (11 ct) for Pemmican. - Mr. H. generously volunteered to contribute $100. - His noble heart as it prompted him to cheering words, seemed to throw a glory into my very soul - Tears were my answer!
