As compared with the other gold coins, the devices & arrangement are novel but perhaps not less appropriate

Of French coins (new)
The models for the pieces 1, 2, 5 & [[strikethrough]] 4 [[/strikethrough]] 10 Centimes are ready but the dies have not yet been engraved

The French Gov. relies on the skill of its artists & the beauty of the metal employed (Bronze) to protect from successful imitation of its new copper coinage

XXXX And all the provisions of an act entitled "An act to authorize the coinage of gold dollars & double Eagles" approved Mar 3d 1849 shall be applied to the coin herein authorized, so far as the same may be applicable; but the device & shape of the three-dollar piece shall be fixed by Secy of the Treasury.  ^[[Sec 8]]  This act shall be in force from & after the 1st of June next
