The Russian [[?]]hansen discovered Petra Island in 1821; Weddell in 1823
proceeded 3° further S. [[thru?]] [[Cooke?]]
[[Biscocin?]] 1831 - 33 discovered Enderby & Krup Islands lying between the meridians of 45 & 60 E
[[Balleny?]] 1839 discovered Sabrina Land & the small islands wh bear his name; & Dumont D'Arville saw Adelic Land in 1840
These lands are mostly exterior to the Antarctic Circle; the S. end of South Shetland, Balleny & Petra islands, being ^[[the]] only lands that actually cross it. 
South Victoria country Mt. [[Terror?]] 10.880 ^[[feet high the active volcano]] Mount [[?]] 12.100 feet high is the discovery of Rear Admiral Sir James Clark Ross. The furtherest point of S Lat. reached by this persevering & enterprising officer was 78° 4' S & the Parry mountains the most southern known land, were seen extruding about as far S.
