[[underlined]] "Frobisher Strait" so called, does not exist. [[/underlined]] according to my firm belief!

To-day, I have had from intelligent Esquimaux travellers to-gether in [[strikethrough]] my [[/strikethrough]] ^[[the Commander's office]] room of the "George Henry" whom I questioned & re-questioned as to the sketch - chart drawn by Ku-jes-se all of whom [[strikethrough]] are [[/strikethrough]] ^[[were]] united in pronouncing it in accordance to [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] the real existence [[strikethrough]] of this [[/strikethrough]] & positions of the land & water. The chart unites the "Meta Incognita" of Queen Elizabeth [[strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] by [[strikethrough]] the East [[/strikethrough]] ^[[an isthmus running]] [[strikethrough]] being [[/strikethrough]] Northward ^[[ [from]] Hudson Strait, about Longitude 72[[degree symbol]] to 74W to the Main Land extending from Fox Channel to Davis Straits.
Tes-su-win -, "Mgat", Ku-jes-se & "Su-sy", as we call her (New-ken-jar her Esquimaux name) were the parties present. Tes-su-win made some change ^[[in the chart (of Ku-jes-se's drawing)]] of the islands around the channel leading from [[underlined]] Frobisher's Bay [[/underlined]] (by this I shall hence forth call ^[[ [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] the]] formerly misnamed waters) down into Hudson Strait.
This channel of which I now write, or make reference, is placed in the Admiralty Chart about Long. 67[[degree symbol]] - 45' W. [[strikethrough]] It leads [[/strikethrough]] Its westerly entrance from Frobisher Bay is through Jackman's Sound south termination is near middle Savage Islands & "Saddle-back". Sir Edward Parry in his ^[[world]] 2d voyage of discovery of a North West Passage" Says:

"Though there appeared to be several small openings

as of between islands along this coast [place of the alledged channel - Hall] yet we saw none of any magnitude like that marked "Jackman's Sound" in Mr Arrowsmith's chart which we must have plainly [[strikethrough]] [[?]]an [[/strikethrough]] noticed had it existed as there laid down. The fact is that the inlet, so called by Sir Martin Frobisher in the year 1576, has it only [[underlined]] known [[/underlined]] entrance on the south shore of the strait bearing the name of that navigator its communication with Hudson's Strait being a matter of very doubtful conjecture. I believe, [[underlined]] indeed, we may suft[[?]]ly consider the land by whatever name it may be designated as continuous the whole way from the east bluff as far westward as North Bay" [[/underlined]]
Why Parry is this [[underlined]] unusual [[/underlined]] ^[[(for him)]] looseness of expression should stop at North Bay is a wonder to me, for, the
