Glorious Morning! Rain or shine, storm or calm, [[underlined]] this is the Day of all this weeks, the best! Sabbath Morning! How welcome to my ears would be the sound of the church going [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] bells of Cincinnati, this Morn! How many opportunities to enjoy the refreshing seasons of this day have I let slip in my life time! God forgive me! Will I improve the present for doing good & for Self Improvement? How I sorrow for my misspent hours, days, years - my life-time! But O, I rejoice that I am spared to make preparations for the Life to come! May angels from on High attend me through [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough][] my pilgrimage!
Would that all those around me would find in their hearts ^[[full]] determinations to spend [[underlined]] their [[/underlined]] Sabbaths holy now & through life.
The boats off early to cruise for Whales - 2 native crews & 4 of the vessel. While there are thus engaged, natives (males & females) are at work "scraping" ships's decks. I am sure, if the officers & men were allowed their choice, they would keep the Sabbath as it should be. Would to God the [[underlined]] custom [[/underlined]] of Whaling on this Sabbath here & others parts of the Globe, would cease. If men proffering to ^[[be]] lovers of Christian Instructions, who send ships here, will [[strikethrough]] will [[/strikethrough]] but require their ships companys to abstain from work on this day, the certain alluded to [[underlined]] would - cease! [[/underlined]]
The oo-mi-a (in woman's boat) of the Esquimaux which [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] went adrift in the story of 26-7-8, was found ^[[to-day]] S. side "Rescue Bay" wrecked. The covering - Ook-good skin is in great demand, both by our men & the natives, for soles for native boots. Walrus have been seen & ^[[unsuccessfully]] chased, [[strikethrough]] gr[[?]] [[/strikethrough]] but no Whales seen.

The frequent actions of the Esquimaux guide, who visit ^[[the G.H.]] almost daily, is annoying, indeed, but I cannot, surely, condemn [[underlined]] them, [[/underlined]] as it is done in repelling the [[short solid line]] assaults of some of the hands employed about.
