& Walrus in abundance down Prince Regents Inlet.  Capt. Parker pointed out to me ^[[on my Admiralty chart]] the appearance of the water & ice when at [[strikethrough]] Prin [[/strikethrough]] Cape [[Kater?]].  As I am expecting to see him again before he leaves, I shall [[strikethrough]] get [[/strikethrough]] hope to get a more minute description.  Parker's [[strikethrough]] desc [[/strikethrough]] graphic description of the terrible storm of [[strikethrough]] 1820 [[/strikethrough]] ^[[1830]] in Baffins Bay.  22 vessels wrecked -- completely wrecked around his vessel escaping without a scratch.  1000 men make their retreat upon the ice.  Not one lost their lives save 2 by the spiritous liquor they injudiciously drank.  Capt Parker 69 years of age & good to all appearance for 1/2 score more of years in these regions.  Been navigating here North (whaling) for 45 years [[less?]] out of this time missed 5 years.  Commenced 1815 - Commander in 1820. Never has lost a ship!

   No chronometer on either vessel.  The Doctor a young man of merit.     Has lived 1 year in Springfield Ohio.  The gale of Eclipse day (18th July) as experienced by the Parkers off Wilcox Point & Devil's Thumb.  Commenced 2 o'clock morning of 19th from S.W.  The same gale [[strikethrough]] as [[/strikethrough]] we [[strikethrough]] exper [[/strikethrough]] had at Holsteinburg.      Oclock P.M. 18th when Rogers & his crew came so near being lost & the G.H. of going ashore.  Capt. Tyson & Capt. Allen reported to me experiencing this gale in the 18th.
  The Dinner.  The "Blessing" asked.  Capital soup of fresh duck!  The generous proffer of passage to England [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] if I  wished to return for another craft

having now lost my expedition Boat, which lies wrecked on the coast  near this [[very?]] [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] vessel.  The pointing out of the excellent place for my Birth.  My thanks for his Kind offer-- My declaration of intention to prosecute my voyage's course  I shall pursue the special attention I desired of them as to my  route - the report to them that there was No Frobishers Strait!  The deep regrets of Capts. Parker at the loss of my Boat.  The unhesitating offer to supply me with the best of his Boats.  My acceptance accompanied by the statement that due acknowledgement would be made hereafter as well as reported to H. Grimmell, Esq. & through him to my countrymen. He proposed to carry letters to England & immediately maili^[[n]]g^ them for Steamers running to U.S.

Capt. Parker told me of an immense ice-burg he saw in 1825 or 6 called Parry's [[strikethrough]] ice [[/strikethrough]] Burg [[/strikethrough]] having upon it a flag-staff.  He doubted not it was 15 miles in circumference.  Largest whale he ever captured (Mysticetus) 12 feet 2 inch [[Beam?]] - 75 feet in length.  25 Imperial tons oil.
Capt. Parkers Bosom [[strikethrough]] frumn [[/strikethrough]] companions ordered of Nuk-en-tow [[strikethrough]]n[[/strikethrough]]  [[image: perhaps an animal skin or piece of clothing?]] made of pik-a-min my truk-too ^[[from up the]] young of deer.  Fur on  each side, worn over the breast ^[[next to the  under garment]].  The size is 12 inches deep, 10 wide. A person wearing one of these not liable to take cold.  The reference to H. Grymmell Esq. The high esteem he is held ^[[in]] by all subjects of Great Britain as well as by Americans!
   Lady Frankln often been seen by Capt. Parker.  Miss Cracroft, her niece, the great author of the celebrated letters written under Lady Franklin's name  A hand aboard Capt. Parker's vessel reporting that Miss Cracrofts married to Inglefield.  Young (Capt. Young of the Fox in McClintock's voyage 1857-8-9 important to her in a voyage of discovery - surveying on coast Labrador. McClintock reported to be on a voyage of discovery - surveying on coast of Labrador.  McClintock on a voyage coast of Greenland.
