Christmas Day - 1860

The visit to each Igloo - The 1st call in Ebierbing's my entrance by a smashed snow door. - Santa Claus (as represented by me) deposits a snow knife in [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] Ebierbring's [[strikethrough]] shoe [[/strikethrough]] stocking - A handkerchief & Collar in Tuk-oo-li-too's - following this the calls on all, wishing & cheering a "Merry Christmas".  Rogers with the White Pitcher" - the enthusiastic company of the G.H. which accompanied.  The return by Moon-Light [[strikethrough]] of the [[/strikethrough]] accompanied by nearly the whole village inhabitants.  Sterry met coming in from shore - his pistol reception - The U.S. arms prove good metal!
Flags raised to the masts' head - The day so mild as hardly furnished a breeze.

The grand hilarity of Whites & Esquimaux - Ebierbing & Tuk-oo-li-too present - 
The exclamation of Capt. B. 'And can it be it has come to this that [[strikethrough]] per [[/strikethrough]] one of this uncivilized people stands here to save [[strikethrough]] we [[/strikethrough]] us from this curse of civilization?  Tuk-oo-li-too, like an angel, [[strikethrough]] throws herself [[/strikethrough]] stands before Capt. B. & myself pleading the cause of God & Right - Her final Success - triumphant!  Before this last incident, My promise to her - her appearance when standing by the door to which she had followed me - My participation in that fatal glass!  O, God forgive me!  Ebierbing & Tuk-oo-li-too remain through the night & day - I give up my room to them for the night - All retired (or nearly all) at 2 1/2 AM 25th.  My rest in the old arm chair on the aft cabin

Christmas Day 1860

a sleeping beauty, [[strikethrough]] And [[/strikethrough]] a fine scene Ebierbing & Tuk-oo-li-too as they appeared in my "Bunk" asleep!
[[strikethrough]] I belief I belief [[/strikethrough]] - (wrong again!) [[strikethrough]] again [[/strikethrough]]

[[underlined]] I believe confession doeth the soul good: [[/underlined]] 
Therefore I humbly acknowledge before God that I have been the instrument through which nearly every officer & man of the G. H. & nearly every inhabitant of the North Star Village has been made as it is often times termed, [[underlined]] 'Gloriously drunk'! [[/underlined]]  O, how humiliating is this record!  Little did I think of its coming to this (& that too so soon) when I wrote the Record of Christmas Eve!  I must be plain - Among my articles of out-fit for my voyage to King Williams Land I had a keg of Ten Gallons of pure Alcohol (100 per cent proof) manufactured & presented by Lowell Fletcher of Cincinnati Ohio.  This was specially for fuel - a very excellent & condensed fuel indeed.
