Wednesday Dec 26th/1860 The Aurora in play this Morn. A general resting day has this been from the celebration of yesterday Ebierbing's call upon me this eve to say that Mgan is about to start with his family to Oo-kood-lear for Sealing & wishes him & Tuk-oo-li-too to accompany - He (E.) said that he & his nuliana did not think it right to go with him (M.) unless I consented. When Ebierbing came, I was writing - Capt. B. was also in the aft Cabin. The solicited private interview with the latter - Its understood refusal - the case. He finally tells Ebierbing he had better remain here to accompany me on my excursion to Frobisher Bay. My visit at once [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] with Ebierbing to see Tuk-oo-li-too. Found that there were [[strikethrough]] was [[/strikethrough]] truthfulness & honor in these parties. That they would not go with him unkle "Mgan" unless I [[strikethrough]] said [[/strikethrough]] gave them leave. Met Mgan with his Kum-uo-tit carrying his chest aboard the G.H. This Eve Aurora Wind at IX Eve Ther Bar [[end page]] [[start page]] 1860 Thursday Dec 27th Thermometer at "0" this morn Wind blowing a gale Mgan & his Nos 1 & 2 nulianas Nuk-u-jar & Kun-ni-u with [[space]] other natives started off early this morn. They expect to remain at Oo-jood-lear (Budington Bay) for a considerable time if successful in sealing & hunting Tuk-too. One of the party is to return with Ebierbing's dogs (4) in 3 or 4 days. Mgan took them in addition to his dogs that his journey might be quick. Before night one of Mgan's dogs in harness returned. It is not known why! Before he left Capt. B. kindly gave him 8 cakes of hard bread that the party might have something to fall back upon in case of success not following immediately.
