Another beautiful day!

This Morning little Oo-kood-lear & her cousin started off with dogs & Kummiti to Ebierbing & T. She says that E. & T. will move down here by to-morrow stopping a short time & then go over to Frobisher Bay Innuit Settlement.

Mr Sterry completed a "tripod" for me to-day. It is for using in taking Magnetical Observations by Azimuth Compass. It is a capital thing only weighing 1 1/2 lbs. I am not sure the patern is not a model one. This afternoon I took a tramp around the Harbor & thence out into the Bay. To-night there was an arrival from Frobisher Bay settlement: "Miner & wife & Su-Koku, "Capatain" & Kokerjabin, all Innuits. Charley ([[space]]) & young Smith started off this morning with dogs & Kummiti having a load of ship material for Whale Fishing Depot. They will return to-morrow. Miner reports that they have caught three more Walrus since Que-jes-se was there wh. was on Wednesday last. He further says that the Innuits there are now turning their attention to sealing. Miner has met the misfortune to lose his Walrus lines - a loss serious indeed to an Innuit. He struck a Walrus & while fast to it, the ice on wh. he (M.) was gave way. It was with difficulty that Miner escaped even with his life. The losing of Walrus lines is a frequent occurrence among the natives. Some who have met with such losses this winter have been obliged to get them replaced by small ropes from the vessel.

The material of wh. Walrus & Seal lines are made is of the skin of Ook-juke the large Seal & also of Walrus hide.
