About the time the company of Innuits was ready for starting for Budington Bay I went over to Whale Island. As I arrived there I looked [[strikethrough]] out [[/strikethrough]] toward "Look Out" Island & found that the Boat of Bob's with several natives was on the move S.E. toward the open water. The Boat was lashed upon a sledge drawn by a portion of Ebierbing's team of dogs, the natives assisting by [[underlined]] pushing. [[/underlined]] Just by Whale Island was another sledge loaded with Tupiks & the venerable old Innuit woman, *O-Ku-ju-ox-y-ni-noo, Ugarny's mother. To this sledge was attached the balance of Ebierbing's dog team.
I entered Ebierbing's Tupik - found Tuk-oo-li-too there busily engaged in making presents to [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] Kok-en-zhun, [[/insertion]] noo-li-an-a of "Johny Bull" [[Chimerurcher?]] who was about to depart also for same place. E-tu, a man Innuit, has been for months endeavouring to make Oo-kood-lear his wife. This young lady (?) (girl) dislikes him - & so does Ebierbing, her cousin & protector. In fact E. is determined that E-tu shall not have her, though U-garny ^[[insertion]] the unkle of E. & O. [[/insertion]] on the other hand desires that E-tu shall take her to wife. It was expected that Oo-kood-lear ^[[insertion]] would [[/insertion]] [[strikethrough]] should [[/strikethrough]] accompany [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] those intending to go to Budington Bay but finding that E-tu was going & that the probabilities were that Ugarny would give Oo-Kood-lear to him, E-bierbing resolved to keep her with him. Ebierbing & Kood-loo had a talk with E-tu telling him that Oo-Kood-lear was too young to have
