The "George Henry" progress to-day in getting out of Bay slow. Wind being light & from the S.E. - a head wind virtually to beat against. Tack-Tack has it been the day long. I have every now & then been up on the tip of Whale Island where we now are, watching this movement of the G.H. It was past Meridian before even as low down Parker's Bay was reached. By night it had nearly reached "French Head" when the tide not only overcame its further progress but drifted it slowly along back till again near Parker's Bay. I could imagine the feelings Capt. B. had working against the continued obstacles wh. seem to be presented to him for the trial of his "pluck". Toward eve as I was watching the vessel I noticed the white clouds capping the high land on opposite side of Bay. From this I anticipated at once that a storm would soon follow - & that another mountain of trouble to the G.H.'s company was before them.
I never witnessed more discouragements in the pathway of men than of the G.H. since coming from the States
