He succeeded however in frightening them off from the shores where they were.
Thence we proceeded to our other [[striekthrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] object - Sealing.  We were not long again upon the waters before Seal was in view.  Having my rifle in readiness I drew upon it but just as I pulled hair trigger, a little boy with as full of "curiosity", same as all other young geniuses the world over lifted himself up that he might see what was going on.  The [[?cont]] motion he gave to the boat was just in time to throw rifle out of the fair sight I had drawn causing the Ball to strike short of reaching my mark.  It was a sorry miss for nothing have the Innuits of the little community in wh. I now am on hand for food - since the 2 ducks wh. Koo-loo killed when he was out to-day.  Waiting awhile, the same Seal was up & staring us again wondering no doubt who & what we were.  Kood-loo having his gun ready thought to try his hand.  We continued plying the oars this way & that for some time when K. got a fair sight at the constantly dodging & living Seal.  K. fired - Seal gave a double plunge - the 2d making us think it was his last splurge but we were mistaken tho' did not
