Moderate " " [[dittos for: & rain]] The 1st object of interest this Morning was the announcement by [[?Tuk-ar-li-too]] who preceeded all of us in getting up & going out & sighting the "George Henry". She cried out that the [[?Oo-men-ark-ju-arn]] (ship) was coming back was nearly up the Bay opposite our Island. I was soon up & out. It was indeed so. I watched her till she dropped anchor N.W. of this 2 miles off. This a wise move for had Capt. B. attempted to proceed, the Gale would have swept her perhaps upon the tongue of Land S. side of the [[end page]] [[start page]] 1861 July 31 Wedns. Bay. At 12 M. the Gale was furious. I have been upon the hill top many times to-day to see if the G. Henry weathered it. One time I was alarmed thinking as I was peering at her with anxious eye that I saw she was dragging anchor. A few minutes sighting happily proved she was firm in her anchorage. The restless painful night of Ebierbing, [[?Tuk-oo-li-too]] & Suzhy alarmed. The former oft in tears. The aunt in the hour of midnight goes out & brings in Jennie Kood-loo's wife (who is an An-koot). She takes her position (sitting Inuit way) in one corner of the Tupik facing from us, & proceedes. The seriousness of all. The oft replies on exclamations of Suzhy Tuk-oo-li-too & Ebierbing. The effect capital on Ebierbing he becomes quiet & finally sleeps well. However strange it may appear to some yet it is a fact that the An-Koot does effect a seeming benefit - a charm - upon the sufferer. The mind being diverted from all thought of the clay house to something above which the [[underlined]] soul [[/underlined]] aspires to reach
