1861 Aug 4 + Kood-loo has succeeded in killing two [[?Narogrus]] to-day - a portion of one he sent in to Ebierbing which will do the sick good. I am now living on Pemmican & coffee. I deal out enough bread to Ebierbing for his own eating while sick. The night is a stormy one wind blowing from N.E. gale like. Every think is in a wet state outside & in except bedding & clothing - a flood of water occupies 1/2 of Tupik. It would astonish most of States people to see how comfortably I get along living Innuit way with the natives. While I am writing Koo-ou-le-ung is chanting an Innuit [[?term]] while Ebierbing & Tuk-oo-li-too are full of the conversational. I have many hearty laughs with these Innuits as ever I enjoyed. I take particular delight in acting as 'torment' to Tuk-oo-li-too in wh. Ebierbing always joins me. The play we have upon the Words: 'All the same as Cud-lou-yen' (big shot) will long live in my memory. Tho' applied to Tuk-oo-lo-too in her appearance (?) at the present time yet she it as joking upon facts. She does not like E. & my hints, & from this, we enjoy the annoyance we cause her.
