Koo-jesse attempted to land on S. side but sea rolling in heavy I told him to make up the channell bit. Whale & Coopers Isd. & there he would find good place. Having done so as he jumped ashore he handed me a letter from Capt. B. Short - but like all of his - [[underlined]] to the point: [[/underlined]]

Mr Hall
Sir
I have hired two of the Natives to go with you. I think you had better move up here to-day with Joe (Ebierbing) & by to-morrow you can start on your voyage.
Yours Truly
S.O. Budington

I took it with great satisfaction up to my Northern Home to Ebierbings Tupik - sat down on the chest (that has been my seat many a time) & read it to E. & T. - At the time the weather was fine - wind light from the E.
I advised that as 2 Boats were not at Whale Island & both to be taken back to the vessel that Ebierbing & Koodloo with tupiks & all should remove to the place where the other Innuits are

near the vessel. I told E. that "Sharkey" "Jim Crow" - E-e-u-ar-ping, "Captain" & Koo-jesse were now there & with myself could assist him in the careful removal of himself & all he had. I also told him that Koodloo had better pack up to, - told him that Capt. B. had himself sent down for him & that I feared so good an opportunity would not be possible again soon as Capt. B. was intending to commence cruising for whales on Monday next & would be using all hands & boats left.
Of course I must take the Boat I bought of Capt. B. (the same I intend to present to E. when I leave for the States). Poor Ebierbing feels sick - looked sick indeed as I talked to him. He thought I knew what was best & he wold do as I said. I went to Kood-loo - The [[?seemed]] [[?m]]. It takes time to operate with Innuits especially when they wish to do contrary to what others wish. In the mean time almost a gale from N.E. had sprung up making it inexpedient to remove Ebierbing in his present state
