5) 1861 Aug. 8th Thurs. He informs me that he introduced the matter I desired to Koo-jes-se & Koo-per-new-nuy on their return. The former was fearful I wished to prolong my stay at head of the Bay I was about to visit to cold weather - & if so he did not wish to go. Capt B. told him I should not probably be gone more than a month, that I at least should be back in less than 2 months. This satisfied him. On this an agreement was made that I should give to each a bag of shot & roll (1000) caps. The additional bag of shot (1/2 to each) for 2 of Capt. B.'s engaged Innuits "Sharkey" & "Jim Crow". My cheerful acquiescence of & [[underlined]] thanks [[/underlined]] for the Captain's services. His interrogations oft repeated to know what I wanted addigional? As I meet Koo-jesse & Koopernew-ung & find them in capital spirits. At ten their noolooanas Tu-nuk-de-lien & Ak-chuk-enzhun (Susy) aboard. Appear in good new dresses & States' fashion dressed hair. Converse with them of the voyage we are about to make to "Wes-see-poke". [[end page]] [[start page]] (6 1861 Aug 8th Thurs. Highly elated. My crew so far excellent. Capt. The only objection to "Suzhy" is that she is very heavy - weighing not less than 200 lbs! The very heaviest Innuit of the country. All arrangements made to start from the vessel early to-morrow morning. Breakfast ordered by Capt. B. to be in readiness at 5 (V AM). The Innuits to strike their tupiks & have them in the Boat & be along side at that hour. The weather is now good & to-night every indication of a fine day to-morrow. May it prove so. Have taken out of the Ship's "run" a can ([[strikethrough]] about 100 [[/strikethrough]] 90 lbs.) Pemmican & 1 cask "Borden's meat biscuit" (about 100 lbs.) brought with me from States.
