me - [[underlined]] Drowning Ducks! [[/underlined]]
A company of ducks were seen swimming some distance ahead of us. As we approached, [[strikethrough]] them [[/strikethrough]] most of them flapped themselves out of the water & flew away, while the balance dove down. One nearest us was selected for the subject of game & [[underlined]] fun. [[/underlined]] Whenever it popped its head out of water Innuits made a terrible noise & the men portion of the crew every conceivable motion with their arms & hands to frighten the poor thing down at once.  Whenever it appeared, thence the boat was directed, Koo-jes-se being at the time Boat steerer, & the crew working with all their might to follow up. Up ^[[came]] & down went frightened duck without a moments time for respiration.  Koo-loo stood on bow of the boat with hook in hand directing the course of the duck. The waters in the Channel are pellucid ^[[as crystal]] & duck could be seen ^[[tho']] many fathoms deep & as many ahead. 1st Duck would strike to right
