It was getting well into Night when I terminated these observations - yet I & my Innuit companion walked along the shore - thence up a short distance on the plain extending back some 50 rods searching for other relics.  By the by, before leaving the coal deposite, I filled my pockets to the brim with the sable relics discovered.  It made Koo-ou-le-arny laugh heartily at the act.!  Besides, I took along with me some of the excavated sods having attached to them sand & coal as described, tho' I proposed (& now intend) to revisit the spot & gather more on my return from the present voyage. As I said, we continued our search for other relics.  I desired very much to find - even the smallest fragment of brick but the shades of night prevented a thorough search - therefore reluctantly I turned from this deeply interesting place, [[strikethrough]] leading [[/strikethrough]] & led the way across the Island to the Boat.  We found everything all right & ready for a quick sail to our 3d encampment, to wit Oo-pung-ne-wing.  Getting out of our Boat harbor, the wind filled our sails (it still blowing hard) & away we bounded.  Now & then a gust came that almost threw our craft on her beam ends.  While Koo-ou-le-arny steered, I held onto the sheets, ready to douse or let go on the instant of any sudden violent blast of the wind.  Several times during our passage of the channel, free play was given to the sail - but in good time & safety, - & with a thankful heart, on my part at least, for the discovery I have this evening made, we arrived back.
