Cold Incidents of the day - Morn wind being fresh NW & Kood-loo not having arrived concluded to stop over at 7th Encamp. - So I told Koo-jes-se & K they could go took-too-ing - Started after breakfast of Took-too! Walk on the Mountain of this Cape before breakfast - look out for place for A.M. - M. - P.M. obs. About 9 (AM) instruments up - went to work - returned - then before 12 (M) up again - the return - Cooked Took-too dinner - & after assisting in getting boat safe moored - returned & took P.M. Obs. The women folks hard at work cleaning skins - Learn of my misfortune or rather [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] what was near it. My charts & chart papers taken away by rising tide. The boat goes out (one of the Innuit women discovering something floating out in the Bay) [[underlined]] manned [[/underlined]] by the ladies! At X AM Kood-loo arrives! He goes took-too-ing - returns at 9 (AM) with Rabbit. Gun reports from across the Bay - I, Ar-tuk-en-zhun & Tu-nuk-de-lien taking boat & under [[strikethrough]] sail [[/strikethrough]] strong breeze from S.E. [[underlined]] fly [[/underlined]] [[end page]] [[start page]] (2) 1861 Aug 17 Sat [[underlined]] over [[/underlined]] - The surf - the sighting Koo-per-neu-ung with 2 Took-too - the breaking of Boat - the imminent risk there - the return against the strong wind. Took-too (1) of largest size - one medium. Presentation of (Took-too) nose - Same did Koo-jes-se. Arrived (back) 10 1/2 (PM) Moon!
