Seals seen in every direction around us. The Innuits on fire! Each man Innuit with Kok-e-ute (gun) ready for a shot. A h4-00 Chro 5 shot made & all miss! tho seals close to. I cannot deprive them of the sport - then too the Innuits are [[underlined]] Seal [[/underlined]] hungry.

Now 4-06 Chro  another shot at seal miss.

It is strange they miss so - the water is quiet & seals close to.
There are several sand hills on the right looking up the bay at the entrance where we now are - a short distance above 8th Enc.

We are out but a short distance from our 8th Enc. & stopped sealing. I see we are drifting with the ebbing tide.
We now start V-15 Chro not having secured a seal & 20 shots have been made.

This bay must be some 20 miles deep its remarked - Koo-jes-se has been up to the Island Ki-ki-tute ju-a. He says that in one day can go to head of it from the Island. From this & other matters I gain from him I conclude the Bay to be of 20 to 25 miles in depth.
hVI-m25 Chro. we arrive to head of a long Island trending ^[[in line]] with many small ones at the lower end

hVI-m40 Koo-jes-se shot a seal with my rifle.  The oars placed us at once on the blood stained spot.  Kood-loo stood on the bow of the boat with hook in hand ready to make fast to it. As the boat came up with great speed he could make but one strike.  He made fast but the velocity at wh. we were going tore his hold out. Grasps were made over the side of the Boat for poor seal but to no avail. Before the crew could stop the Boat & stern - down sunk [[underlined]] poor [[/underlined]] seal to become the food of other than humans. The water blood was all around. By the by this matter is not ^[[all]] told. As soon as it was discovered that the shot was effective all the oars on one side [[strikethrough]] we [[/strikethrough]] were plied with all their
