Arrived at this 9th Encamp. on the Eve of Monday 19th

Tuesday, Aug. 20th 1861
AM  N.E. Fresh  Rain heavy rain last night
M  N.E. Light, Cloudy, [[symbol:Sun]] out now & then
P.M.  N. Fresh " [[ditto for: Cloudy]] Mist.

This Morning the weather would not admit of proceeding on our course up the Bay, therefore concluded to stop to-day at 9th Enc.
I am receiving presents almost hourly from the Innuits we fell in with yesterday.  They are in form of Venison - Took-too tounges & Ood-nook - the very choiset eating in any place of Civilization.
Allokee as the Innuits here call one of the Se-ko Se-lar Innuits that I met with at the ship last Winter has brought me in a liberal present of the kind indicated.  Of course they all are quite sure I will make presents in return in way of needles, Beads, Tobacco, pipes, powder or shot.  Any way I do so.
