12th Enc 5th Day 19 Day out

the deer was shot to the Boat. We brought the same with the rest of the venison along with us to this (12th Enc.) I was very careful not to have the antlers marred in the least - careful to preserve the fur on them unsoiled - but during 1st night the dogs as if the evil-intras was in them, gnawed away at various parts of the antlers, spoiling them for my purpose wh. was to take them home in all perfectness to America. Now the dogs have not only destroyed the Antlers but eaten up my breakfast. I say confound the Innuit dogs - till I have use for them. Then, I will be as forward as any one in calling them blessed animals! So the world goes.
