On the return of the party the seal wh. Koo-per-neu-ung shot coming in was the [[underlined]] subject [[/underlined]] of a feast. He (K.) went around & invited all the men Innuits here who soon came, each with seal knife ^[[in hand.]] They squatted down around seal & opened up - & pitched in to poor seal. A huge piece of Ood-nook (Took-too tallow) in one hand, seal lion in the other (both in raw state) I done justice to the same & ^[[to]] [[underlined]] myself. [[/underlined]] The Innuits & myself through, the ladies took our places - they are now feasting on the abundance left. Seal is the standard & standing dish of provision among the Innuits. [[underlined]] They never tire of it [[/underlined]] - while ^[[for]] Took-too, Ni-noo, Ducks, [[underlined]] Salmon [[/underlined]] &c they soon find all relish [[strikethrough]] for them [[/strikethrough]] gone!
Allokee shot his deer with Koo-jes-se's gun. He usually uses only bow & arrows - the same being in universal use among the Innuits on the North side Hudson's Strait. This eve I got Allokee to ^[[show]] [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] his skill in using these instruments (bow & arrows) in making

a mark of my felt hat which I placed on the top of my compass tripod 100 feet off.  The arrow shot from his bow almost the speed of a rifle ball. His aim was a trifle under - he missed felt, but lost his arrow wh. is no small matter - its force buried it in the ^[[ground covered by]] lux^[[ [uri] ]]ant [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] grass & all our long search ^[[has]] proved vainless.
The arrow is made with great pains pointed with steel, spear shaped. There is no mistake that an army of Innuits armed with such weapons as Allokee's would make terrible havock in Battle.
The bow is admirably & skillfully made. Allokee has a water proof covering for bow & arrows. He exercise as much care of them as any greater lover of his rifle could of [[strikethrough]] his arms. [[/strikethrough]] it.
Indeed we are in a land & by waters of plenty! I am constantly overwhelmed with presents of the very best of choice eating
