14th Enc. 23d Day Out

Fog to the Eastward & Southward of us, it is down to the water closing all views in the distance. A little later & all around closed from view except the Coast at our left.
Now hXI-m30 - Even with the light land I saw when at 12th Enc. It is a long, straight, high bank of sand & shingle, 35 to 40 feet high - the top covered with a grassy slope extruding back to the mts. 1/2 to 3/4 mile long, steepness of bank 45 degrees. I do not recollect seeing anything like before in the North.
Another seal shot at by Koo-per-neu-ung but missed.

A day of trials & Discovery! At last I am where I have long desired to be. [[underlined]] From my own vision, "Frobisher Strait" is a myth [[/underlined]] - it only exists in the minds of the Civilized World - [[underlined]] not in fact! [[/underlined]] To me I find this side still more interesting than the other. Here at the extreme and more extensive - far more extended plains of grassy land &c &c wh. I will yet describe.
I must here stop short a moment. *Koo-jes-se this moment - XI-30 Chro (6-30 PM) passed to my hands what I think will prove to be rare geological specimens - [[underlined]] Fossils! [[/underlined]] I shall attempt no description here but shall carefully note the circumstances before I get through to-day's journal. I am sitting out
