The ebbing tide, I was aware, was helping us along finely, therefore, having passed the [[underlined]] crisis [[/underlined]] as I supposed, did not urge my lady crew to hurried, hard work. As we [[strikethrough]] reached [[/strikethrough]] came opposite the place of our 14th Encamp. by the "Sand, Shingle & Rock Bank", I even called to the [[strikethrough]] y [[/strikethrough]] crew: 'Tur-bar' ^[[(stop)]] to wh. they responded, peaking their oars.
My Log- [[strikethrough]] ling [[/strikethrough]] line is a fish line - a Cod-fish hook ^[[pendant]] all the time at one end. I charged it, on, baited it rather, with a piece of Tood-noo (Tallow rein-deer) & dropped it over-board thinking I would, according to promise made Capt B. ere I left the G. H., give a trial for "Cod", for as near as can be made out by the Innuits this species of Fish is here.
But I ^[[soon]] found the upper waters were carrying us along at too rapid a rate for Cod-fishing. Of course, [[underlined]] I wound up, [[/underlined]] bringing in aforesaid Ood-noo wh., from all appearance, was in just as
