furtherest land - the utmost Extreme wh. was but one day's journey further. I told them if they would go, (return) [[underlined]] go! [[/underlined]] but [[underlined]] I was bound to remain & visit that place I purposed, & for which I made the journey! [[/underlined]]
Never can I forget the silent but speaking looks of those 2 Innuits nearly all that day's journey to U. Ex. Sour-looks - short, pie-crust answers to all my questions &c &c. I refer to this matter simply to show that Innuits like, & [[underlined]] will have their own way if they can. [[/underlined]]
Again, refering to the sledge journey to Ex Land - soon as Seals became numerous, Kood-loo & Ebierbing let all consideration of myself & the object for which I made that trip go to the winds, while they devoted all time & attention to Sealing!

When Boat or sledge parties are to be organized & sent out, then have one man Innuit with wife accompany such Boat or sledge - [[underlined]] & no more. [[/underlined]] Then the Innuits would be valuable auxilliaries instead of [[underlined]] 'drawbacks' [[/underlined]] to the object or objects for wh. the Expedition was specially designed.
I do not, by any means, regret making the present Voyage to determine whether Frobisher's alledged Discovery is a Strait or not - even with the rough, [[?untutorted]] savages I have as crew!
I regret I have not pale-faces - of the right stamp of souls - in the places of my
