All at once, a Calm. - A few moments succeeding & a strong cold blast commenced from S.E. The change was remarkable - the suddenness of change of Temperature. I was obliged to retreat from my mountain top position to escape the strong wind & severe cold. I made my way (without hurried steps) down the other side of the mountain toward the rivers & plains. Tho' the distance did not appear great, yet before I got back I found myself quite weary. From the appearance while at 12th Enc. the Mt. on which I made above Obs looks as if it were an Island - the Mts behind it casting forth the peculiar look that made me so conclude.
