(16 1861 Sept 11 Wedns 16 Enc 6th D 34 D out by Main Sail. I asked him if from Tupik - he said Ag-gi - that it was quick light. I understood at once. [[underlined]] It was lightning that he saw [[/underlined]] - tho' it must have been that accompanying a snow storm as one was prevailing in direction Koo-jes-se pointed. While darkness was setting down thick, we were lifted over our [[underlined]] "paved [[/underlined]] way" to Tupik Coast by the rising tide. We made fast the Boat's line & run up to our Home. How thankful that we had tried - & accomplished all that we attempted! I had but got seated in my tupik & some of my wet clothing divested when in came "Susy" ([[space]]) with tea-kettle well filled for me with smoking hot Coffee! I had made up my mind that the Innuit [[underlined]] ladies [[/underlined]] had all retired - & that supper would have to be made on cold ood-noo, if made at all. But, no! They had watched our progress & our oft defeats all the P.M. They had kept in readiness for hours hot suppers for me & my Company! How rejoiced I was when "Susy" brot her muscular [[underlined]] Sampson [[/underlined]] looking form, tea kettle in hand, as she made thru the entrance to tupik where I was! I returned her many thanks (que-en-e-miks) - & then proceeded [[end page]] [[start page]] (17 1861 Sept 11 Wedns 16th Enc 6th D 34 Dy out to sweeten & incorporate therein broken pieces of Sea-bread. The latter well soaked, I cut off a liberal slice of snow white Ood-noo & proceeded to discuss the points of "good-eating" with the [[underlined]] 'inman'. [[/underlined]] If ever an afternoon's hard usage to a sick frame got better pay then in this closing act so well [[underlined]] 'plotted' [[/underlined]] by noble "Susy" ([[space]]) I should like to read it! I felt another - a better man - [[underlined]] out & in! [[/underlined]] Hot dishes of Pemmican with Meat Biscuit together had been prepared for Koo-jes-se & Kood-loo, who I saw after finishing my repast, doing full justice to it & to themselves - all with glad hearts that we had not only got back saftely - [[underlined]] but to hot suppers! [[/underlined]] [[underlined]] Dearly [[/underlined]] obtained sights those of to-day!
