warms & keeps attuned their hearts.  Will self will is above all with them.  How pained my Soul to find my best efforts to make this voyage of use to the Geographical World baffled by the outrageous conduct of this people!  How perfectly [[underlined]] in-human [[/underlined]] they act with me.  They were [[?obtained]] to accompany me here for a specific purpose.  They make it a voyage wholly for their own interests, with but little regard to my requirements.  There are various points in this matter that one living only in the Land of Civilization (if these points were told him) he would doubt that even our American savages would or could be guilty of so unfeeling - inconstant conduct.  I rejoice that I am on my return - & only rejoice that I may have White men - men of Civilization for my associates.  Never did I dream that the 3 men Innuits I have with me had such [[underlined]] stone [[/underlined]] hearts to reason

Yet at times they do act as makes one feel to like them - but when the real bottom of their souls are fathomed, a [[underlined]] Work [[/underlined]] is [[?for]] needed Great as Combined Christianity is capable of doing to bring them to a sphere where [[underlined]] goodness would commence. [[/underlined]]
Soon after getting on the lee side of the Island the parties of the other Boat came over to visit us.
I proceeded at once in making P.M. Obs. the Sun just coming out from its day [[?covering]]
