hIX-m30 A.M. = This morning the Bay as far as eye can see, skimmed over with ice!  In this harbor, around the shore, it looks quite thick.  Capt. B. feels that he will be obliged to up anchors & away very soon if such a condition continues.  Thus I would have been exposed to the risk of being left here this Winter had I continued on my purposed trip to Oo-pung-ne-wing.  All in all, I rejoice that I am back, sadly as I feel at not accomplishing more work at "Countess of Warwick's Sound."
At IX O'Clock this, I had interviews with several Innuits concerning the important relic that must be still on the Island
