1861 Dec 3 Tues

Twer-oong was aboard to-day. She told me a few days since that she was so ill that she could not make her & her winga's Winter Took-too dresses. I had asked her why she did not some Innuit woman to assist her. She said she had nothing to pay for it - that it had taken all of her best things to pay the Ange-Ko. To-day I told her to get some one to make the dresses & I would pay for it. She was very much effected at my offer.

some of my pemican - but with such a heart as I have, how could I under the circumstances?
Upwards of $250 (Two hundred & fifty) worth of pemican & Borden Meat Biscuit alone did I contribute to the benefit of the Ship's Company when I found it was imprisoned here for at least 9 months longer than was designed to remain here.
My feelings have been sadly hurt to-night - the matter might be throught trivial by some while others would think otherwise. I have this consolation while I am growing poorer & weaker others [[underlined]] hold their own, at least. [[/underlined]] Perhaps I ought. Well never mind - better days may come.
Let us call to mind now & then No Bread & BEANS! BEANS! - then either have a laugh over it or go a Whaling! (?)
