(16 1861 Dec 16 Mon I then returned to the Igloo where I put up & commenced my talk with Sampson Koo-choo-ar-choo about trading with him for 2 took-too skins. I had introduced the subject to him however before the feast - but he sinified to me to delay till after the feast. I exhibited to him a large fine snow knife wh. took his his eye & fancy at once - also, Water proof caps & a new leather shot pouch filled with shot all of wh. pleased him much. He looked at these articles - then contemplated - then talked with his wife. Finally he concluded to let me have 2 of his fine skins in the morning. Thus I may say the prospect is that I shall carry back with me 4 Took-too skins at least. I have not yet seen my old friends, Ook-gook-al-loo & Ak-lo-kee though their Igloos are not far off. They are on the spot where I found Tupiks on my trip up the Bay last summer about 1/5 of a mile over the hill on the N side Toong-wine Cape. I shall see them to-morrow I hope. If the weather be propitious I may start back to-morrow. The general - [[underlined]] universal [[/underlined]] call for pipes & Tobacco. (Sixteen pages in this day's Record.)
