The conclusion arrived at by our mutual exchange of opinions was that Capt. B. would commence at once serving out the remainder (four Cans of Pemican beside the one now using out of) at the daily allowance of about 5 lbs per day.  Instead of twice a week as the past few weeks to be served out [[underlined]] daily, [[/underlined]] Capt. B. thinking if he can continue his Company for two or two & 1/2 months longer in health, he can then without doubt, get through balance of the time that we shall be imprisoned here.
This plan admits of my having 3 Cans of Pemican & 1 Cask of "Borden's Meat

Biscuit for my Winter & Spring operations.
Capt. B. proposes using a small quantity of flour in making soups of the Pemican.  Each man which aboard to have also one Cake of Bread per day.  The Meat Biscuit having in it a small proportion of flour will answer every purpose in the place of my having any of the Ship's Bread during the time I expect to be absent from the ship, to wit, 6 months.
According to my proposition to Capt B., I was at once to commence using on my Pemican & Meat Biscuit at once, without having any share
