Transcription Notes:
One wonders if the crossed out pages are selected or eliminated from the text of his book "Arctic Researches, And Life Among The Esquimaux: Being A Narrative Of An Expedition In Search Of Sir John Franklin In The Years 1860, 1861 and 1862." The Innuit celebrating like the "Fourth of July is mentioned on page 423. The unclear name transcribed as "Noo-li-un-a" is probably Jack's "ankooting" [singing, chanting] wife who is referred to throughout the book only as "Jack's wife." On page 166 of Hall's book "nulian" defined as "wife."
