'The men who built the ship and started with it all died - [[underlined]] died with the Cold [[underlined!'
I asked him How he knew this? He said 'All the old Innuits said so!'
How will this agree with what the old Innuit Woman, Mother of [[black ink]] M-garng [[/black ink]] said to me last winter in her oral history wh. She communicated to me! She says that the 5 men built a ship & started - but finding so much ice they could not proceed & finally froze to death!
But I must, to catch all the momentous history more around me, simply pencil brokenly & influence leaving this meaning into readable shape till my return to Ship. The willingness of the Innuits to co-operate with me in this matter makes me disposed to forget [[black ink]] ^[[all]] the trouble & annoyance they have caused me since starting on this Expedition. I suppose as we are within 2 day's distance from the vessel (if favored with fair wind) that they consider they can afford to assist me in any way I wish. [[/black ink]]
The magnificence of the Aurora to-night!
