^[[snow]] storm & furious wind - to opposite side of Island - to the bight where we landed - found the Boat gone & the cask of coal wh. was left on the rocks above high water - concluded the Innuits had proc[[?]] me & was taking it around to opposite side - new tupiks - my way back - in direction of the bight E of Tupiks - seeking for relics - find small piece of coal in the sand on the be^[[a]]ch - follow up a gully & find more - find occasionally a flint stone - At length discovered another deposit of coal - Deposite No 2 on Island Ni-oun-te-lik! This on a bank by cove - with sand beach short distance E. of coal deposite No 1

The Innuits coming round with Boat at the time - both boats landed & drawn up beyond reach of tide on said sand beach. [[underlined]] Without doubt the very landing made by Frobisher's Boats in 1578! [[/underlined]]

The coal ^[[bed]] within 30 feet high water. Depth of coal thickest part 6 inches. Nearly overgrown with grasses, shrubs & mosses. Washed down into the sand & shingle of the beach. The low land ^[[point]] beyond shooting out ^[[1/6 mile]] from N.E. end Ni-oun-te-lik - the visit to side next Oo-pung-ne-eng the return - Igloo signs by Bluff - Arrive back to [[strikethrough]] Ig [[/strikethrough]] Tupiks - proceed to get instrument to dig up mosses, shrubs & grasses with coal in ground frozen - the shears of Jack's taken by his noo-lia-ana from tupik wh. was part of frame. fill coffee dish - the rocks with coal from Deposite No 2 on N in bread cask! Susy helps me carry it to pile No 1 - cover it with coal! Leave the
balance of work for the morn - to not filling cask with coal from pile No 1.
