of Sea-biscuit! I ^[[was]]was [[underlined]] particularly [[/underlined]] conversational & cheerful to each & all - I also carried hot coffee & bread to Miner and his wife - besides I gave bread to [[strikethrough]] each [[/strikethrough]] others of Miner's Company ^[[such] as I knew [[strikethrough]] had [[/strikethrough]] posse^[[ss]]ed the sought relics. [[underlined]] Then [[/underlined]] I had my interview with Koo-je-se as indicated - I told him (K.) that if [[underlined]] he [[/underlined]] had any of the "flint - Stones", I would give him 2 boxes percussion caps when I got to the vessel if he would give them [[underlined]] all [[/underlined]] to me. I told him that I wanted he should assist me in inducing all the others to do the same - that I would give Koo-per-neu-ung & Kood-loo the same as I offered him - and furthermore I would pilletry (give) his nu-li-an-a [wife], Koo-per-ne-ung's [[strikethrough]] beads [[/strikethrough]] & to Susy beads for all they had. I found my plan to work like a charm. The Sought relics came in by [[strikethrough]] he [[/strikethrough]] the scores. Each brought me an amount that surprised me. I had not conceived my Company had been so [[underlined]] greatly [[/underlined]] deceptive! One of my stockings ^[[(the only article I possessed]] [[strikethrough]] rok I need [[/strikethrough]] to bag these relics (Flint-Stones) in was nearly filled before I got through. On the assurance from each that [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] all was given up, I took Koo-jes-se with me over to Miner's Company He ^[[?]] & Co were then engaged in loading boat - getting ready to start - We stated the object of my visit - told them that on getting to the vessel I would give them tobacco &c. Here another considerable acquisition! On their word that they had given up all, I returned well pleased that I had conceived & executed ^[[so]] triumphant a plan! I keep these relics by themselves that I may show what & ^[[how]] [[underlined]] acquisitiveness [[/underlined]] (?) May sometimes be made of one's own property when Clandestinely taken from him!
It was a constant thought with me that perhaps the "George Henry" has left the harbor where she was when I took my departure on Friday Aug 9th & gone to Budington Bay. The various stopages & running up into high land & sighting have already been recorded. As we neared Parker's Bay heard the reports of guns & saw Tupiks there. Koo-jes-se [[strikethrough]] Kug [[/strikethrough]] Kood-loo & Koo-per-ne-ung responded [[[strikethrough]] we [[/strikethrough]] by firing their arms.

See page 440 in Hall's book. Flint was valuable to the Innuits for starting fires.
