Last night ^[[wind,]] snow & rain continued till X-00  From that hour through the night cessation of all - This morning we prepare for our day's journey to the Vessel. I spent a sleepless night - I feel absolutely bad - [[underlined]] sick [[/underlined]] ^[[I have a severe cold [[strikethrough]] in the [[/strikethrough]] ]] My lip where ^[[now]] occupied by Job's Comforter, pains me worse than any of the numerous Comforters I've had. Probably I feel worse than I [[strikethrough]] otherwise [[/strikethrough]] should [[strikethrough]] have I if [[/strikethrough]] if I had brought along with me more generous food - now near 4 Days eat nothing but Bread - save 3 ounces of fresh new duck ^[[& a little Tood-noo]] & drank Coffee. [[strikethrough]] A [[/strikethrough]] One in weak regime[[guess]] life-supporting caloric making food. A white man cannot cease from the use of &^[[such food]] for  awhile - for several days in succession as Innuits can - without feeling terrible effects in his system.  At least I cannot. Chimeraschu ("Johny Bull") is our Cook on this trip - That is to say he makes the fire (not in Tupik but in the open air) & boils the Coffee. We have Tuk-oo-li-too's 'stand-by-tea-kettle' wh. holds just enough to fill 4 tin cups each holding 3/4 of a quart. The Company is divided into 2 "masses" 4 in each - Soon as the first 4 cups are filled the Kettle is replenished at once with Cold water, when Chi-men-as-chu proceedes to heat that while 4 are at their Coffee & bread. The Innuits after eating & drinking Coffee awhile, like them much. I deal out the

bread with impartial hand giving all alike in quantity.  Morning & evening meals consist of the above - Dinner being on Duck, Walrus, or whatever we may have at hand in the fresh meat line. (See 4th Page ahead)
