This Morning saw 4 vessels - All of us highly delighted once more to see something hailing from Civilized Lands. After dinner Capt. B. Sent 2d Mate (Gardner) with Boat's crew to board ^[[the]] one [[strikethrough]] the nearest[[/strikethrough]]. Few moments after G.H.'s boat was off, the American ensign was raised to the mast head of our vessel. The colors displayed by the vessel to wh. our boat was directed were English. The object of sending off this Boat, to get provisions, as the G.H's Company is living on short allowances 3 sea-cakes [3/5 lb] per day to each man with a little Salt-pork & Salt-pork. In less than half hour Gardner returned reporting that he could get no provisions from that vessel. The Capt. seemed willing to supply the wants of the G.H. exposed himself accordingly but a person aboard who appeared to be Supracargo[[guess]], said that it could not be done, as all the provisions they had aboard was being carried up to one of the Settlements ^[[on the Labrador Coast]] belonging to a Company in whose service the vessel was engaged. However Supracargo[[guess]] said by the G.H.'s sending a boat ashore where we saw a ^[[white]] flag Staff & a ^[[white]] house plenty of provisions ^[[could be had.]] This a place deposite of stores & provisions owned by same Co. as the ship. Three hours later, 3d Mate (Smith) with Boats crew was sent off to try another vessel (wh. was coasting along near Labrador shores) for provisions This vessel Spanish fishing or ^[[Spanish]] [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] Cod fish trader - An Englishman was aboard who interpreted. Smith succeeded in getting a water bucket full of Molasses, a junk of Salt pork ^[[10 or 15 lbs]], two or 3 plug of tobacco & [[underlined]] 2 small Salt Codfish [[/underlined]] we being now in the Cod-fish Country. 
Capt. B.'s deciding to take another course - - Instead going down Strait "Belle-Isle" make his Course down E. Side Newfoundland. It had been Capt. B.'s intention to make progress through Strait of Belle-Isle but as nearly a head wind [[strikethrough]] opposed [[/strikethrough]] opposes immediate progress [[strikethrough]] Capt [[/strikethrough]] he decides to go around E. Side Newfoundland  doubling Cape Race,[[guess]] steer direct for Home.
