Started from 8th Enc 11 A.M. The travelling good but up & down from the Snow wreaths moving in the direction nearly at right angles from my Course. Take Meridianal obs. make only the distance started 5 1/0 miles when Koo-jes-se & Sharkey desire to stop make Igloo & try - to-morrow for Seals below here. Provisions being low cannot object. If so made 10 1/5 miles in 50 minutes.

Transcription Notes:
"Started from 8th Enc 11 A.M." According to Hall's book he was at 9th Encampment for ten days, 22 April until 1st May 1862 (pp 515-16). So some date confusion re this page or perhaps he meant "Started from Enc 9"?
