Henry made his appearance this eve VII o'clock saying that Kinny-u-ar-ping thinks it will be two months before he, Miner & Koo-per-neu-ng will be back to Oo-pung-ne-wing therefore he thought he would come down & tell me - says that he has had nothing to eat since he left here - that Kinny-u-ar-ping is hard up - has got no provisions no ook-sook [[strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] [[?]] fuel for fire light & under these circumstances Henry was at once fed up on Ni-noo Polar Bear meat the very best eating wh. Kop-e-o had just brought in for me & Koo-jes-se. The next thing done was that I made arrangements with Kop-e-o to take Henry to Oo-pung-ne-wing direct with a team of dogs, to start to-morrow. With a great team Henry will be set down on Oo-pung-ne-wing in one day. I give Kopeo a long knife, Box of percussion caps & a doz. gun balls for his service.
To-day I called in at Kop-e-o's & while there made trifling presents to old Pe-ta-to (who lives in same Igloo) to Kop-e-o's wife & little An-nu-tik-en-tung giving them a pair each of Brass rings for the [[strikethrough]] hands [[/strikethrough]] hair & fingers. While in there Kop-e-o drew forth a Seal Skin wh unrolled developing the hind quarters, by & hoof of a Took-too. From the rump he sliced off a long, large piece of the Venison & gave it me. I ate it there & then frozen & raw as it was. It was good. Gu-nuk-de-lien cooked for my dinner to-day the rein-deer tongue wh. Kopeo gave me yesterday the eating [[?tongue ?for ?night ]] I call it "dinner"

more properly the tongue was my supper for it was after noon quite advanced, before the Innuiits of my Co. go up. The Gale made it quite out of the question of starting to-day - the ook-sook ^[[(oil]] fuel) being small, there was no occasion for their early rising.
Henry & Sharkey took my team of dogs this eve & went up to Kinny-u-ar-ping's & got Henry's bag of [[strikethrough]] ?baggage [[/strikethrough]] bedding that he ^[[(H)]] might have everything he needed to start with Kop-e-o in the morning. On arriving back the news awaited Henry that Kop-e-o had backed out declining to go as he agreed to. The third plan of getting Henry back has now failed - the only alternative is to keep him with me till I return.
The Innuits are very fickle - make a bargain - & soon give it up. To-night one of whom I bought (traded for) a day sent back what I had given for it saying he could not [[?will]] spare Mik-key (dog) Kinny-u-ar-ping acted inhumanely with Henry - would not let him [[?remain]] last night in his Igloo unless Henry gave him his Seal Knife. Had it not been for the storm Henry would have returned to me last night.

Note: There is a Ning-u-ar-ping mentioned in Hall?s book, but I could not find a reference to Kinny-u-ar-ping. Other sources mention that Hall?s naming was idiosyncratic.
