[[blue strikethrough]] Acronycta on willow, allied to the big brown alder one, Plattsburgh Sept 4. '93
Hd black, lobes separated by a natural notch. Body black; hair short, very dense, obscuring the body except het. segs, looking like bands of hair Light yellow, shading into fleshy horn on the back, slightly keeled along dorsal line. On 5, 7 & 12 a high thick black dorsal pencil of hair. A few very long white hairs from the extremities. Spiracles white. Pencils double from [[circled]] 1 [[/circled]]. Warts rather small, [[circled]] 4 [[/circled]] as large as the others, stig. post Hairs from both body and warts alike. A yellow s-s band, excavated for spiracle, exactly concolorous with lateral hair
