FOR PRIZE CONTEST
WHAT BURPEE'S SEEDS HAVE DONE FOR ME

W. Atlee Burpee Company

Dear Sirs,
Just twenty-five years ago this spring I first
heard of the house of Burpee. In the attic of our new
home the former owner had left a Burpee catalog. That
catalog introduced Burpee's seeds to me.

As a child I grew flowers from seeds purchased
at the grocery store. Work put upon them was not justi-
fied by results. The quality of the flowers was so or-
dinary I lost all interest.

But that Burpee catalog was a revelation. If,
with the same amount of work I had done before, I could
have lettuce and sweet peas like those! But Mother con-
sidered it all "catalog talk".

Nevertheless, I could never forget that catalog.
After several years I sent an order. Those sweet peas
were the finest I had ever seen, and Mother herself still
exceeds the catalog in praise of Burpee vegetables.

My garden interest dates from that time. It has
been my chief and unfailing delight ever sign. Once it
brought me out of nervous prostration. Now I am studying
garden design and considering gardening as a vocation.

It was Burpee quality in seeds that made me a
gardener.

Yours truly,
